Jail and County Records

The Gratiot County Jail Division is staffed around the clock for immediate jail-status questions. Administrative records follow the county’s normal public-record process.

Written Sheriff-record requests go to the County FOIA Coordinator, County Administrator’s Office, 214 E. Center Street, Ithaca, MI 48847, or to foia@gratiotmi.com. Put “FOIA” or “FOIA Request” in the subject and describe existing records with names, dates, and known booking details.

Court and Supervision Offices

Use the court that handled the case. Court copies follow MCR 8.119 and the local access process, not county FOIA.

Choose the Correct Route

Each request should go to the agency that created the record.

• For a released person or county custody record, start with the complete Gratiot release search and Sheriff request steps.
• For supervision, use Probation & Parole and the correct local or MDOC office.
• For recent county exits, follow Jail Releases: 24 Hours; Gratiot has no official published release feed.
• For a state sentence, use OTIS or MDOC FOIA at MDOC-FOIA@michigan.gov, P.O. Box 30003, Lansing, MI 48909, or 517-335-4194.
• For a release alert, call MI-VINE at 800-770-7657 after confirming Gratiot’s live participation.
• For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP or ICE system rather than a county office.
